Ted Gibbons was born and raised in Logan, Utah. After serving a mission to Brazil, he attended Utah State University on a theatre arts scholarship, which he later changed to speech. He graduated with a degree in both speech and education.In 1968 he married the former Lydia Kimball, then was inducted into the service. He was the distinguished military graduate of his class, and after two years of service he reached the rank of captain.
Ted returned from the service to enter BYU to begin a Master's program, and after one term was hired by the Church Educational System to teach seminary in Phoenix. After three years in Phoenix, he completed his Master's in audio visual education, and was transferred to Snowflake, Arizona. At Snowflake he served as principal for four years. Then, in 1980, after returning from the Church Educational System's tour of Israel, Ted moved his family to Orem, Utah, where he began work on a Doctorate at BYU in instructional science. After two years in Orem on sabbatical, teaching at BYU, he was assigned to teach seminary at Pleasant Grove High School, where he has been ever since.
In addition to his many church assignments, including Branch President at the Mission Training Center, he has participated for many years in the Know Your Religion program.He has presented his one-man stage presentation of Eyewitness : Willard Richards Comes Back to Carthage hundreds of times over the past several years.He is a published author of several books, and was co-lyricist on the magnificent Rabboni Easter cantata performed by the Tabernacle Choir in recent years.
Ted and his wife, Lydia, are parents of ten children.
